Water column

Water column is a measurement to describe how waterproof a garment is. Water column determines how much water measured in millimeters at the height that 1 square centimeter of the right side of the material can handle before the material starts to let water through. The higher the water column number, the more water pressure the material can withstand. Water column can be written as e.g. 10K or 10000mm for a garment with 10000mm in water column. However, the water column is measured when the garment is new and unused. And the waterproofness drops through wear and washing. What you should keep in mind in order to maintain the garment's quality and extend the garment's lifespan is that it is important to impregnate the garment again after washing.

5K is classed as waterproof and keeps you dry in mild conditions without external pressure from snow 10K is our standard and will keep you dry for a full day out in normal winter conditions but moderate pressure from the snow outside. This is a solid water column that suits most of them. 20K For those who require that extra. Out for long days in deep snow and blizzards, you'll stay dry with 20K 45K Sympatex membrane 100% waterproof, 100% windproof and optimal breathability like a second skin. Sympatex technology is as waterproof as a functional garment can be. For extreme skiers who spend a lot of time out in the snow and have the absolute highest demands on their clothing. The membrane keeps the body dry and regulates the body temperature optimally depending on the weather and activity. Regardless of the weather conditions you venture into, you will be dry.

Breathability

The breathability is a measurement of how much water vapor the material releases during a 24-hour period. The measurement takes place by stretching out one square meter of the material and you measure how many g of water vapor are transported from the underside and through the material during a period of 24 hours. Can be written as e.g. 10K or 10000g/m2 for a garment with 10000g/m2 breathability. The higher the number, the more the garment breathes, which keeps the climate on the inside of the garment drier. In a waterproof garment, breathability is at least as important as how waterproof a material is to stay dry. If the breathability is too low, you will get wet from the inside from sweat and heat, even though the water column on the outside is able to keep the moisture out.

  • 5K works for those who do not ride very actively.
  • 10K is our standard and releases a good amount of moisture. In case of high effort, we recommend using the ventilations on the garment to release the extra moisture for good regulation.
  • 20K Works for the very active skier and if you need more moisture release or cooling of the body, you can open the ventilations for a quick cooling down.
  • 45K Sympatex membrane with optimal breathability. Absorbs the water vapor directly and leads it outwards through the clothes. The best thing about it: the Sympatex membrane "breathes" dynamically, i.e. the higher the physical activity, the more efficiently it works. In this way, the body always remains warm and dry, even in extreme situations.

Taped seams

The exposed parts of a waterproof garment are seams because of the small holes the sewing needle creates when the seams are sewn. By taping the seams, these holes are sealed and water cannot penetrate.

Feed scale 0-3

Shell garment. Good option if you are very active and want to control the degree of heat yourself through the layer on layer principle. Lightly lined. Just right for the active skier who likes to dress in layers to regulate the heat. This is our standard in feed quantity. And suits most people. Warm lined. If you are frozen and ride a scooter in very cold conditions with a lot of sitting still such as trail riding or pimping. Extra warm lined. If you are very frozen or do a lot of skiing in really cold conditions.
